Liver Functions

•  Largest organ and most metabolically complex organ in humans.

•  500 functions: fighting off infection, neutralizing toxins, manufacturing                           proteins and hormones, controlling blood sugar and helping to clot the blood, etc.

•  The only organ that is able to regenerate.

•  At any one time, the liver contains about 10% of the blood in your body and it               pumps about 1.4 litres through per minute.

6 Warning Signs of Unhealthy Liver

•  Jaundice: the most common sign of bad liver. Sakit Kuning.

•  Pale stools and dark urine.

•  Itchy skin throughout the body.

•  Abdominal pain with swelling.

•  Unexplained fatigue

Fructus Schisandrae

•  Increases resistance to disease and stress, increasing energy, and increasing physical performance and endurance.

•  Schisandra is also used for preventing early aging and increasing lifespan; normalizing blood sugar and blood pressure; and             stimulating the immune system and speeding recovery after surgery.

•  It is also used for treating liver disease (hepatitis) and protecting the liver from poisons

•  The chemicals in schisandra improve liver function by stimulating enzymes (proteins that speed up biochemical reactions) in the     liver and promoting liver cell growth.

•  The lignan components in schisandra possess pronounced liver protectant effects. The active principles appear to be the lignans     wu-wei-zu C, shisantherin D, deoxygomisin A, gomisin N, and gomisin C. The presence of 1 or 2 methylenedioxy groups appear to     be important in hepatoprotection.

What Does Silymarin Do?

•  Silymarin is the main active ingredient in milk thistle.

•  Silymarin is both an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.

•  Researchers also have found that milk thistle improved insulin resistance.

•  Lowers LDL.

•  Directly aids liver cells by binding to the outside of cells and blocking the entrance of certain toxins. In addition, toxins that are           already in liver cells are neutralized by silymarin.

•  While powerful antiviral and immune-stimulating drugs have become the standard in successful hepatitis C treatment, milk               thistle extract provides a gentle insurance policy to stave off further liver injury and assist in the eventual return to more optimal     liver function.

•  By increasing bile production (important for carrying toxins to the intestines for elimination) and increasing antioxidant activity,         milk thistle extract helps promote liver cleansing and insures the best possible detoxifying action.

•  By acting as a blocker, silymarin not only helps maintain liver health, but slows the progression of irreversible liver damage, also     known as cirrhosis.

Curcuma xanthorrhiza

•  The extract of C. xanthorrhiza could reduce significantly the acute elevation of serum transaminases levels induced by the two         kinds of hepatotoxins, and alleviated the degree of liver damage at 24 hours after the intraperitoneal administration of two                 hepatotoxins.

•  It may be concluded that C. xanthorrhiza can protect the liver from various hepatotoxins, hence C. xanthorrhiza could be useful in     the treatment of liver injuries and has promise as a kind of broad spectrum hepatoprotective agent.

Vitamin B Complex

•  Referred to as vitamin B complex, the eight B vitamins — B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12

•  These essential nutrients help convert our food into fuel, allowing us to stay energized throughout the day.
